Thermflux

Thermflux
for CSS

Oilflow has developed a solution to restore production
and reduce HSE challenges for
Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) wells.

Thermflux enables CSS producers to dramatically
reduce viscosity related challenges and restore
production more effectively than mini-soaks.

By loosening the heavy oil from the sucker rod,
potential catastrophic failures can be completely
avoided as produced oil viscosity increases.

>> THEMFLUX BENEFITS FOR CYCLIC STEAM STIMULATION

Restore production and associated revenue Eliminate rod hang up Reduce loads on pump jacks
Reduce stuffing box maintenance Eliminate risk of unseating pump with high pressure steam Lower cost alternative to mini-soaks
Reduce potential safety risks during the mini-soak process Reduce Green House Gas Emissions (GHG’s) Reduce Steam to Oil Ratio (SOR)

 >> HOW DOES THERMFLUX WORK?

With Thermflux treatment, heavy oil is mobilized from the production tubing and around the pump inlet. The increased mobility of oil in the wellbore allows for better thermal connectivity between producing zones and spreads the heat load. The sucker rod is reseated and the pump is restarted with ease with minimal potential HSE risks.

By eliminating the stresses and loads on equipment, the pump jack can be re-started readily without the aid and time constraints of the mini-soak process.

Thermflux cannot specifically replace the heating and pressurization process, but Thermflux has proven to be an effective tool in safely restoring production in a cost-effective manner.

Increase
Production
  • End of 2nd Steam Cycle: high condensed water cut, last of thermal energy, oil tails to zero
  • Evidence that sub-cool had shrunk: pump unable to move through heavy oil
  • Post-treatment: pump able to move & production remained for several months
  • Cash flow restored

Lower
HSE
Risk
  • Temperature at heel has increased substantially
  • Pump operates freely – no rod hang-up
  • Mechanical stresses in system due to viscous oil have been removed
