Reducing Heavy Oil Viscosity

 

The Challenges:

  • Torqued out
  • High fluid level
  • Constricted flow

Producing at a rate of 12.0 m3 per day, this Peace River horizontal well exhibited high torque at 660 ft.lbs with a pump speed of only 50 RPM.

Wellflux (AI), through its annular injection technique, increased pump speed up to 170 RPM - over 200%. Additionally, the pump speed increase has improved the oil rate by 127.5%.  

 

The Results:

Torque Reduction of

50%

Wellflux reduced torque by 50% within a few days as torque decreased from 660 to 330 ft.lbs. Torque has remained at the optimized level for over a full year.

Pump Speed Increase

240%

With a pump speed baseline of 50 rpm, the 50% torque reduction of Wellflux increased PCP speed by up to 170 rpm - more than doubling its original rate.

Production Increase of

127%

By reducing torque and increasing pump speed, Wellflux increased net oil production from 12.0 m3/day to 30.0 m3/day.
