Terraflux is a game changing technology for heavy oil and bitumen applications.  It involves optimized chemical formulations that are injected into porous formations to enhance oil mobility.

The application of Terraflux for the enhanced recovery of heavy oil and bitumen (EOR) is currently under an intensive multi-million dollar research and development program. These activities are being supported by major oil companies and government bodies.

Our extensive laboratory studies, computer simulations and field work have demonstrated the potential value of using Terraflux in both cold and warm EOR applications.

These applications are ready for field evaluation.  Results show a significant increase in recovery factors as compared with benchmark water floods along with a significant reduction in the time to reach the same level of recover. In some cases a 50% reduction in time can be achieved.

Terraflux is not a conventional EOR surfactant or polymer system.  It works through a unique combination of water saturation modification, interfacial tension reduction and oil droplet encapsulation. Reservoir simulations suggest that the result is exceptional performance under field conditions.

Production increases in response to the increased drawdown. Subsequent steps could involve introducing Terraflux into the reservoir via a cyclic intervention where Terraflux is first squeezed into the reservoir and then produced back along with additional oil.

Alternative processes could include typical 5 spot or line drive flooding patterns.
